Cravens & Lewis Jewelers is a family owned and operated jewelry store that was started by Owen Cravens and Eddie Greenup in 1950. This family business has had three homes, the old Lancaster Hotel on West Main Street, on South Broadway, and our current location at 136 East Main Street since 1960. Owen Cravens became the sole owner in 1961 and operated the business until his death in 1970. Owen’s daughter Jean and her husband John Lewis continued to operate the business and added the Lewis name in 1981. In 1987 we did a little remodeling and knocked down some walls to double our showroom space. In 2005 we redecorated with new carpet, painted the walls, ceiling and changed the lighting fixtures. They really show off the original tin ceiling from 1870's.
Owen and Eddie started the business as a watch repair shop, then added jewelry, watches, and gifts. Diamonds and jewelry has become the major part of the business with a jewelry repair and redesign shop on the premises. The store features a large showroom with displays of quality diamonds, gold, silver and gemstone jewelry. Giftware lines of crystal Seth Thomas clocks, watches, Cherished Teddies, and Precious Moments, figurines, baby jewelry and gifts.
We are a family run business in every sense of the word. Besides John and Jean Lewis, their daughter Shari Lewis and Jean’s sister Charlotte Ison, all work in the store. Come in and let us show you what we have.
